2020 Indoor Winter Ball

Last Raps Baseball will run an Indoor WINTER Ball program on Sunday evenings. The majority of our clinics that we offer stress hitting, throwing and pitching. Just because someone can hit and throw, doesn’t mean they can play the game. This clinic will cover the things that we don’t do in our other clinics but are important aspects of the game.

The first phase of our clinic focuses on “The fundamentals of infield play”. Gold Glove winners in Major League Baseball have a number of things in common, the primary thing being they are really good at using their baseball glove. But there’s an even more important aspect to infield play than having a Golden Glove: having golden feet. In 10 weeks of intense infield training you will learn the following:

– How to use your glove, drills to improve your glove work

– How to use your feet, drills to improve your footwork and foot speed

– Position specific drills

– Positioning on the infield

– Review of the rights and rules as an infielder

– Proper rundown (pickle!!!!) execution

– The importance of having a mental clock

– How to read ground balls and choose your hop

– How to throw from all three angles

The second phase of our clinic will consist of “Bunting and Base Running” so that your game is finely tuned when you start your season. The following points will be covered in the 10-week program:

– Explanation of bunting technique and philosophy (sacrifice, push and drag bunts).

– Application of the sacrifice bunt technique. You will apply what you learn in different drills and competitions with your peers (special instruction for left handed hitters)

– Application of the drag bunt technique. You will apply what you learn in different drills and competitions with your peers (special instruction for left handed hitters)

-Application of the push bunt technique. You will apply what you learn in different drills and competitions with your peers (special instruction for left handed hitters)

– How to properly run to 1st base after you bunt the ball

Base Running
