Sunday Night Baseball

We have tried to come up for a name for this program to describe it the best, but to be simply put, it is baseball. Well, more like the things that we don’t cover in our other fall and winter training programs. Most people want throwing (pitching) and hitting training. Great. Just because someone can throw and hit, can they play the game? This clinic will incorporate aspects of the game. Fielding, Base running, PFP’s, individual defensive position work, catchers, bunting etc. Everything you can think of about the game will be included in this clinic.

The first phase of our clinic focuses on “The fundamentals of infield play”. Gold Glove winners in Major League Baseball have a number of things in common, the primary thing being they are really good at using their baseball glove. But there’s an even more important aspect to infield play than having a Golden Glove: having golden feet. In 10 weeks of intense infield training you will learn the following:

– How to use your glove, drills to improve your glove work

– How to use your feet, drills to improve your footwork and foot speed

– Position specific drills

– Positioning on the infield

– Review of the rights and rules as an infielder

– Proper rundown (pickle!!!!) execution

– The importance of having a mental clock

– How to read ground balls and choose your hop

– How to throw from all three angles

The second phase of our clinic will consist of “Bunting and Base Running” so that your game is finely tuned when you start your season. The following points will be covered in the 10-week program:

– Explanation of bunting technique and philosophy (sacrifice, push and drag bunts).

– Application of the sacrifice bunt technique. You will apply what you learn in different drills and competitions with your peers (special instruction for left handed hitters)

– Application of the drag bunt technique. You will apply what you learn in different drills and competitions with your peers (special instruction for left handed hitters)

-Application of the push bunt technique. You will apply what you learn in different drills and competitions with your peers (special instruction for left handed hitters)

– How to properly run to 1st base after you bunt the ball

Congratulations you’ve made it to 1st base!

– Now you will learn how to take a lead (for those playing with lead offs)

– Secondary leads

– Straight steals

– The timing and technique of the delay steal (playing with or without lead offs)

– How how to properly round the bases

Catchers

– Blocking

– Receiving

– Footwork for throwing to bases

– Bunt recovery

We would like to make sure that this will finish with some indoor infield and bunt scrimmages. We have enough room to make this work, not enough room for full outfield play.
